740 Hobby Card Shop Mid-Ohio Valley Partnership
A lot of you have asked why my business is partnered with a shop in Marietta. The honest answer is that it started as a friendship before it was ever a business decision.
Cody and I clicked immediately.
I randomly met Cody — the owner of 740 Hobby — and we hit it off instantly. Not as buyer and shop owner, just as two people who genuinely love this hobby. The friendship came first. The partnership grew out of it naturally, and I think that's a big part of why it actually works.
Cody, Ben, Brandon, Hurte, and David are masters of their own craft.
The 740 Hobby team — Cody, Ben, Brandon, Hurte, and David — are each masters of their own corner of the hobby. They know their product. They know their customers. They run that shop the right way. After the retirement of Cody's uncle Aaron — who is extremely knowledgeable in sports cards and memorabilia and was the longtime sports card voice in that shop — they needed someone who could step into that role and run the sports card side at the level the rest of the team operates at. That's where I fit in.
I run the sports card section.
When you walk into 740 Hobby looking to talk sports cards, you're looking at inventory I curated and my eye on the case. The shop is a great place to come browse, pick up supplies, and see what's new — and the rest of the 740 team is there to help with everything else the shop carries.
It works because everyone brings their strength.
That's the whole reason this partnership clicks. Cody and his team bring years of shop experience, Pokémon and TCG expertise, and a customer base that trusts them. I bring the sports card side. Nobody is stepping on anyone's toes. Everyone is doing what they do best — and the customer wins because of it.
Cody and I are launching Wrestling With The Hobby.
The partnership doesn't stop at the shop counter. Cody and I are launching Wrestling With The Hobby — a podcast and content platform covering everything we love about the hobby. Card show footage, podcast episodes, behind-the-scenes from the shop, deep dives on the market, and the unfiltered conversations you don't get from the bigger channels. More to come on where to watch and listen — follow @bigjohnscards24 on YouTube to be the first to know when episodes drop.

Selling sports cards? Set up an appointment with me first.
You're welcome to stop by 740 Hobby any time we're open, but I'm not always at the shop in person. If you're coming in specifically to sell sports cards, the best move is to set up an appointment with me first so I'm there to meet you, look at the cards, and make you a cash offer on the spot.
Two ways to do it:
- Text a photo to (304) 916-7830 to set up an appointment at 740 Hobby — or arrange in-person pickup anywhere across the Mid-Ohio Valley.
- Send the photo first and I'll respond same day with a cash offer. If you accept, we set the time and place.
Same person, same offer, same fair deal either way. Read more about how I buy: Why You Should Consider Big John's Cards.
